NOTE: This event is at the Elks Arts Center!
All ages are invited to participate by dressing as a favorite character from a book illustrated by Brian Lies! The contest consists of a simple display and turn in front of the judges. All contestants are invited to participate in the Storybook Parade immediately following the contest. Special thanks to Molly Harless for organizing this event!
When: Thursday, June 8. Day-of registration is 3:15 - 3:45 p.m. Judging starts promptly at 4 p.m.
Where: Elks Arts Center upstairs ballroom, 1174 N. 1st, Abilene, TX 79601 (elevator available)

Categories:
Ages 0-4: Must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes for first through third place.
Ages 5-7: Must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes for first through third place.
Ages 8+: Special consideration given to costumes at least partially created by the participants. Prizes for first through third place.
Groups: Three or more contestants with the same themed costume may enter. Prizes for first through third place.
Rules:
- Must register to participate. Registration ends day of contest at 3:45 p.m.
- Costumes must represent a Brian Lies book character.
- Minors under age 18 may participate in the contest and parade only if a permission form is signed by the legal guardian. By registering, all contestants, parents and guardians agree to use of images by ACAC for CALF promotional purposes.
- An adult is required to accompany children 8 and younger during the costume contest and parade.
- Costumes are judged on accuracy, creativity and presentation.
- No electrical power connections provided.
- No dangerous or potentially dangerous props allowed.
- No live animals allowed.
- All participants are allotted a few seconds to present their costumes for the judges and audience to see.
- All awards presented at the discretion of the judges.
